Janet MacDonald Mortgage Pro Midgets Capture the Ottawa Classic Tournament

The Kingston Janet MacDonald Mortgage Pro Midgets capped off a successful weekend in Ottawa with a 2-1 win over the Kingston Bechtel McIntrye Wealth Management Midgets on goals by Allison Smith and the game winner by Cassidy Neil with 42 seconds remaining in regulation time.
In the semi-final game the Mortgage Pro Midgets faced a strong opponent Westlake from the West Island of Montreal. The game finished in a scoreless tie and needed overtime to decide a winner.  Cassidy Neil on a huge individual effort stripped a Westlake player in the neutral zone and beat 3 players to roof the winner.

The Mortgage Pro Midgets allowed only one goal against in 5 tournament games and played superb team defence. Goaltender Sophia Adam made several outstanding saves at key moments to preserve the victories. The Mortgage Pro Midgets had advanced to the Semi-final after winning their round robin pool with two wins and a tie over Ottawa, Russell and Nepean.
