Atom B's Earn Gold at the Walter Gretzky Tournament

The Kingston Ice Wolves Atom B team captured Gold at the 34th annual Walter Gretzky girls hockey tournament. Kingston played in the semi final game against St. Mary's Rock who was undefeated in the tournament in an early Sunday morning game. St. Mary's scored the first goal with Taylor Wolsey from Kingston tying up the game with a goal late in the 3rd period. The game went into overtime with Kingston starting overtime short due to a penalty. The 5 minute overtime ended with no goal scored and the game went into a shoot out. Lexa Shetler from Kingston scored in the first shot. Kingston goalie Meena Peterson stopped all 3 shots which led Kingston to win the game and they were off to the finals. Kingston played the Brantford Ice Cats who were the home team and first in their division from the regular season. Brantford scored first with Abby Hepburn from Kingston scoring the tie goal late in the 3rd period to bring the game into overtime. Only 17 seconds into the overtime Mackenzie Duttle scored an amazing goal to bring Kingston the gold medal. Congratulations to the Kingston Ice Wolves Atom B team on an amazing finish to the season.
