KINGSTON ICE WOLVES PARTNERS WITH QUEENS WOMENS HOCKEY PROGRAM

2016-09-21

GKGHA has formed an exclusive partnership with the Queen's University Gaels women's hockey program

The Greater Kingston Girls Hockey Association (GKGHA) is pleased to announce that we are entering into a renewed partnership with the Queen’s Athletics & Recreation. The partnership will serve to provide improved integration and involvement of the Queen’ Women’s Hockey team at all levels across our entire organization, with the goal of improving and developing our coaches and players at the forefront. The Queen’s athletes and coaches will in turn be engaged in providing coaching education, athlete and coaching training, mentoring, assisting at practices and as well as other capacities across the GKGHA. This innovative initiative will allow the Queen’s Women’s Hockey team to be role models, share knowledge and give back to their community, while partnering in the development of the female Kingston and Area players of tomorrow. We look forward to developing this relationship to continue to provide improved, unique development initiatives for our players and coaches now and into the future.

The first of many initiatives between the two groups will take place on Saturday September 24th with the Kingston Ice Wolves Novice and Atom House League Kick off day. This will kick off the season for the Novice and Atom divisions and will coincide with the Queen’s University Women’s Invitational tournament at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee on the September 24th weekend. Kingston Ice Wolves House league teams start at 9:00 am and will spend the day participating in a hockey camp environment along with their fellow players and coaches. Gaels team members and coaches will also be on hand helping with the camp. Ice Wolves players will return to the Strathcona Paper Centre Saturday evening to watch the Women Gaels take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 7:30 pm as they host teams from across the country all weekend in the Queen's Invitational Tournament
