On Saturday September 23rd the GKGHA and Queens University Women’s Hockey team will host over 150 Ice Wolves Novice and Atom House League players at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee in what will be a Kick-Off to their season.

The Kick-Off is one of the player’s first ice sessions of the year with their new coaches and teammates. This first taste of Hockey for the 2017-2018 season will be augmented by a fun filled day spent with the Queen’s Women’s Hockey team.

Queen’s Players will be dispersed amongst the Ice Wolves and spend the whole morning with the teams. This special event will be set up similar to a mini hockey camp where fun and learning will be at the centre. Last season the Queen’s players enjoyed the experience as much as the Ice Wolves girls.

Queen’s Head Coach Matt Holmberg will lead the on ice sessions and will be flanked by Queen’s Assistant Coach Morgan McHaffie and GKGHA Development Coordinator Michael Hermer. Rieanne Gushulak (GKGHA Instructor/Coach) will lead the off ice instructor and the Novice and Atom Convenors Nathalie Renaud and Lori McGriskin will co-ordinate all the arrival and logistics. The GKGHA VP of House League Tracy Airhart will be there as well to join in on the day.

At the conclusion of the Kick Off Day the players are in turn invited to stay to watch the Queen’s Gaels play McGill Martlets in a 3:00pm game as part of the Queen’s Women’s Invitational Exhibition Tournament  The Tournament begins on Friday September 22nd and concludes on Saturday September 23rd. Come out and support both events and watch the Gaels at 3pm! Click here for tournament schedule
